Starship Troopers: Extermination is a 16-player co-op first-person shooter set in the Starship Troopers universe. Developed and published by Offworld Industries, the game is currently in early access on PC and is planned to fully release on October 11, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

In the game, players join the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite Special Forces branch of the Mobile Infantry, and report to General Johnny Rico, voiced by Starship Troopers star Casper Van Dien.

 The objective is to squad up, grab weapons, and take back the galaxy from the Arachnid threat through cooperative gameplay.

Starship Troopers: Extermination features three Trooper classes (Assault, Support, and Defense) and five types of alien "Bugs" (Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier and Tiger Elite). Players deploy on multiple planets to complete missions, gather resources, and build a defendable base before reaching the extraction point.

The game also includes a single-player component with 25 unique missions, featuring General Rico in 25 unique missions. The soundtrack, composed by Scott Tobin, pays homage to the 1997 Starship Troopers film.

While Starship Troopers: Extermination does not currently support crossplay between PC and consoles, the developers have stated that crossplay functionality will be enabled at the game's full launch in October 2024.

First revealed in 2022, Starship Troopers: Extermination, the upcoming FPS based on the classic Starship Troopers movies, has been in early access for over a year. Now, it finally has a release date, and it's also coming to consoles with a new mode in store.

Today during IGN Live, development team Offworld (along with Sony Pictures Consumer Products) announced that Starship Troopers: Extermination is officially headed to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 11. It's also receiving a single-player campaign starring actor Casper Van Dien, who played protagonist Johnny Rico in the original films.

General John "Johnny Rico" will command players, along with their three NPC allies original to the game, in the campaign. The mode will have 25 missions, with a second chapter on its way after launch.

Offworld also mentioned that crossplay will be enabled at launch. Additionally, the developer will soon share more information about the game's upcoming update, which is slated for release at the end of June.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is a co-op PvE FPS game that lets up to 16 players recreate the action from the original movies and fight off seemingly endless alien bugs in several different modes. We gave it a 6 in our early access review, saying that "with some time, Extermination could become the premier bug-stomping romp for big teams," and adding that it "captures the film's breakneck pace" in our preview.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is also now being published by Knights Peak, a new European division of MY.GAMES that announced several more games today.
